Newspapers can provide a wealth of information about your ancestors and the times they lived in. Being able to use these sources is crucial for any genealogist wanting to effectively research and learn about their ancestors. This webinar will discuss the importance of using newspapers to learn about your ancestors’ lives by adding contextual information to your research.

Researchers can use newspapers to find items such as obituaries, marriage announcements, birth announcements, descriptions of local events, and more about their ancestors. We’ll discuss where to find newspapers online and in physical repositories, and take a look at some effective search methods using examples from New York and other states.
