New York Articles Published in Journals Outside New York

Since 1990 the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society has published a column in the New York Researcher which points out articles related to New York genealogy published by genealogical journals with a focus other than New York.  For many years known as Seen Elsewhere, the column was published on an annual basis.  Now known as "New York Articles from Beyond Our Boundaries", the column is published quarterly.

The eLibrary has compiled a comprehensive, index of articles that have appeared in the "Seen Elsewhere" and "Beyond Our Boundaries" columns from 1990 through 2011.

Many of the most important New York articles in journals other than the Record were published before 1990. They are identified in a series of NYG&B Newsletter articles written by Henry B. Hoff, CG, FASG, FGBS, who was also the long-time compiler of Seen Elsewhere. These articles can be found in the NYG&B's Knowledgebase.
