The Town of Sterling, which is located in Cayuga County, was named after American Revolutionary War general William Alexander, Lord Stirling. As a revolutionary town, Sterling has a rich history and offers a wealth of materials to researchers. As part of our Statewide Initiative program, we worked with the town of Sterling to digitize several record sets, including the 1845 census, 28 volumes of tax records, and a collection of school records that are available today.
