Join the NYG&B and guest speaker Stephen Lean for a look at the key essentials for beginning your genealogy journey; resources and tips specific to conducting Ellis Island family history research; and how you can preserve your own New York family stories. The program will begin with a review of genealogy basics with the NYG&B team, and our guest speaker's presentation will start at about twenty minutes in.
Participants can join us in person at the NYG&B New York City office or virtually. This is a free program, but registration is required.

Stephen Lean—Director, American Family Immigration History Center
Having started his career in the corporate sector, Stephen embraced his passion for public history and storytelling when he joined the Foundation team on July 4, 2015. Under Stephen’s leadership, the History Center’s team is an indispensable resource for visitors exploring their family heritage.
Stephen holds a B.A. in American History and has a deep knowledge of Ellis Island and the Ellis Island immigrant experience. Armed with this expertise, Stephen is a frequent guest speaker and interview subject for local, national, and international media.
