Join the NYG&B for an online exploration of resources for tracing ancestors from Central New York from the 1800s to the 1900s. An array of records and repositories await those tracing ancestors from Central New York. This session will focus on tracing families from Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego counties.

Courses run 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m, ET each day.

Online sessions include:

  • Individual consultation sessions with expert genealogist Holly Sammons
  • Lectures on a range of topics, including finding New York State canal records with Pamela Vittorio
  • Presentations by special guests, including Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz
  • Group Q&A periods

About Empire State Exploration

The Empire State Exploration program is an ideal interactive experience for tracing New York ancestors online under the guidance of genealogy experts. Participants join a small online group of fellow researchers for three daylong, at-home sessions of guided research and learning. Each online session is held live and features a special guest expert genealogist, lectures, individual consultation sessions, and group Q&A periods. Participants will also get to know the NYG&B team along the way and have the chance to socialize with their fellow researchers. You will have access to materials for 30 days following the program.
