1950 Census Indexing Progress

New York’s name review for the FamilySearch/Ancestry 1950 census project is complete! And all the other states, too. Thank you to all who have helped!

Family review continues, where the household is grouped, and names, streets, ages, and noted “race” is checked to how it was recorded. Click here to index.

What’s next? Once the family review is complete for New York, the indexes will become available on both FamilySearch and Ancestry. MyHeritage continues to work on a separate indexing, meaning researchers will be able to access a different index—key for harder-to-find people.
