Priority registration and discounted tickets for NYG&B research trips, workshops, and other special events. Learn how to make the most of your NYG&B membership and get your questions answered!

Speaking While Female: A Discussion with Dana Rubin and Amanda Foreman

6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EST | In Person at the NYG&B and online via Zoom

Join us as we learn from two seasoned researchers and authors who have focused their careers on recovering the lost voices of women throughout history. Ms. Rubin and Ms. Foreman will discuss the joys and pitfalls of untold hours spent in archives, digging through resources to find women’s words and make them accessible.

Not yet a member of the NYG&B? Come to an informational session with light refreshments to learn more about the NYG&B and how we can connect you to the stories and history of your New York ancestors in more detail than you ever thought possible. You will meet NYG&B staff members who will share what you can discover and access.

2023 Fall Benefit Luncheon

12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. EST | In Person at The Penn Club, New York, NY

The NYG&B is thrilled to announce the long-awaited return of the Fall Benefit Luncheon. We are delighted to have veteran New York Times journalist Sam Roberts as our featured speaker at the event. Mr. Roberts has written for The New York Times since 1983, serving as urban affairs correspondent from 2005 to 2015. Most recently, he is The Times’ obituaries reporter.

Friday, November 17

Member Digitization Day

With the introduction of the NYG&B’s initiative to Digitize NY, our digital services team has been working to preserve and make accessible as many at-risk documents as possible. For the final day of NYG&B Week, members are invited into our Digitization Center for one-hour slots to digitally preserve their own records. The Manager of Digital Collections will guide you through the image capture and editing technologies that we use to accomplish our digital preservation work. Participants will receive an external drive that contains their archivable, high-resolution digital files.
