Every day that passes, bits of photographic history are forgotten or discarded. People are becoming convinced they will never know the identity of the faces looking back at them, so they are selling them, or worse, throwing away their old family photos. For genealogists, every day is a race against time. Every photo contains hints about a person’s identification, from the location the photo was taken to the clothes the person in the photo is wearing. All of this speaks to the identity of the unknown person in the photo. Genealogist are used to looking for tiny clues to speak more about their ancestors. Until now, photographs have not been able to be utilized in a robust manner as an actual genealogical tool.
