New York is a port filled with colorful signs and symbols from its days as a leader in commercial shipping and elegant passenger voyages. But what do they all mean?

The Heraldry Committee of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society invites you to attend this lecture, delivered by Maria A. Dering, a New York history and genealogy expert.

This talk will explore the mosaic shields of world ports that adorn the outside of the International Mercantile Marine Company, 1 Broadway, Lower Manhattan.

From Argentina to Auckland, the shields carry heraldic details that identify each port city in sparkling color.

Join us for a look up at what you might never have noticed at the tip of Manhattan. This event is $15 for NYG&B members and $25 for non-members.
