Exploring Our Past: NYG&B Visits the Netherlands

As part of its Heritage Tours program, the NYG&B is offering an exclusive guided tour of the Netherlands, September 1–7, 2024. This tour includes a group guide for the five-day tour; hotel accommodations; breakfast each day; travel to attractions; and museum tickets. You’ll also have time to explore the rich heritage and history of sites at your leisure.

Aided by on-site experts and anchored in Amsterdam, experience the extensive history and connections between New York and the Netherlands as we explore and learn through a week of private tours, educational events, and sightseeing. Highlights include visiting the city archives; traveling to Delft and Arnhem; seeing the cheese market at Gouda; and enjoying other unique experiences. And together we will also explore Leiden, where we will walk in the footsteps of our Pilgrim ancestors.

  • Arrive in Amsterdam and check in (before 5:00 p.m. local time)
  • Welcome cocktails and introductions at the hotel

Monday, September 2, 2024 

  • Discover Leiden, home of many Plymouth Pilgrims, including an exclusive tour of the Leiden Archives.

Tuesday, September 3, 2024 

  • Journey to Arnhem, an arts and culture hub, to visit the Open Air Museum, the Netherlands' first, largest, and best open-air folk museum.

Wednesday, September 4, 2024 

  • Uncover the canal-ringed city of Delft, renowned for its hand-painted blue-and-white pottery and the birthplace of Dutch Master painter Johannes Vermeer.
  • Visit the residence of William of Orange and learn about his historic reign.

Thursday, September 5, 2024 

  • Experience the charms of Gouda and Oudewater, with their beautiful medieval architecture and rich history.
  • Peruse the celebrated cheese market in Gouda and sample some of its famed products.
  • Visit the Witches' Weigh House, which used to subject those accused of witchcraft to weight tests to decide a verdict.

Friday, September 6, 2024 

  • Explore vibrant Amsterdam, including the renowned City Archives, with its treasure trove of more than 750 years of documents, personal data, images, and stories.
  • Wander the Rembrandt Huis Museum, where you can experience both how this Dutch master painter lived and his astounding artwork.
  • Enjoy a group farewell dinner.

Saturday, September 7, 2024 

  • Optional group breakfast and departure.

Hotel and Pricing

We will be staying at Hotel JL No 76, a 4-star hotel, in two completely renovated 18th-century mansions in the heart of Amsterdam's museum and fashion district.

Tour pricing begins at $5,950 per person, based on double occupancy. A 50% deposit is required at registration. Single supplements start at $1,400. Note: airfare and airport transportation are not included in this package.
