Exploring the Vosburgh Religious Transcriptions with Joshua Taylor and Ryan Gleason

Thursday, April 18 from 06:00pm EDT - 07:00pm EDT
Online
via Zoom
Presented By D. Joshua Taylor, NYG&B President, and Ryan Gleason, NYG&B VP of Digital Services

In March 2024 we added a set of more than 15 new titles to the NYG&B's online catalog, completing the digital releases of religious transcriptions first assembled by Royden Woodward Vosburgh, NYG&B Historian and Archivist. His work, finished in the early 20th century, represents faithful transcription of records for more than 120 churches found in 22 New York counties (as well as some churches in states neighboring those counties) — all told this amounts to thousands of pages of records available to view.

To help our community get a fuller understanding of the value of these materials, D. Joshua Taylor, NYG&B President, and Ryan Gleason, NYG&B Vice President, Digital Services, will lead a virtual session on the Vosburgh transcriptions. The session will provide a historical background on Royden Vosburgh and his work, what can be found in the records, and approaches to researching the many Vosburgh volumes hosted in the NYG&B's online collections. This is a free online event but registration is required.
