The Rest of the Story: Finding Your Family in Online Newspapers [Webinar]
Newspapers contain everything from the mundane to the most sensational items for family researchers. The program will include an abbreviated history of American newspapers; a basic lesson in OCR (optical character recognition, the technology that allow newspapers to be indexed and searched online), and the best practices for research, via multiple databases.

Former television researcher Janeen Bjork has been fine-tuning her newspaper search methodology since finding the first of 135 (and counting) accounts of the1894 murder of one of her immigrant ancestors in a Syracuse, NY newspaper.
