Robert Blair was a sailor (from Massachusetts) and went to South Africa, where he met and married and had one child, named Hazel Blair, with a woman named Cora. In 1930 US Census they all were living in Brooklyn, New York. By 1940 US Census, Cora, Hazel and another child Newton are still living in New York, New York but Robert is in New Hampshire with another woman who he later marries. On his marriage record it states he’s divorce so sometime between 1940 to 1942 Cora and Robert got a divorce.
What I like to have is more information on Cora (born abt 1904 South Africa), Hazel (born abt 1925 South Africa) and Newton (born abt 1931 in New York) as in when they died, who they married, if the children had any children and if possible where they are buried. Any ideas on locating obituaries would be greatly appreciated also.

Title: WOOD John Born 1st May 1904 Sunderland UK died 25th January 1927 New York
Description: My late mother's uncle moved to New York in the mid 1920's. We have some details which include a letter immediately prior to his death on 25th January 1927 a couple of days after attending the boxing match of Fidel la Barba and William 'Elky' Clark on 21st January 1927. His letter was sent to his father on 22nd January with his address given as 119, 40 Street, Corona LJ, however his business card showed an address of 412, East 65th Street, New York City with a telephone number of Rhinelander 0300 ext 99.
Having just visited New York 16th Sept 2012 I noted the address in E 65th Street appears to have been replaced. I did not visit Corona.
I am not sure when John WOOD arrived in New York nor why he emigrated. I would be grateful if anyone could assist to fill in any blanks. He mentions in his letter a couple of Aunts who may have lived in NY although their names are hard to make out.
I know there is an anecdotal family tale that there was some concern regarding sending John's body back to the UK by boat after his death. I cannot find any information in the UK although his body was interred near to my home.
Thank you in advance - Bryn
I look forward to another visit to New York as yet unplanned for 2013.

Title: Van Tuyll van Serooskerken
Description: Seeking (1) date and place of marriage of the retired Dutch cavalry captain Hendrik Willem Jacob VAN TUYLL VAN SEROOSKERKEN (1777-1824), who married the widow Catharine HALSEY(née WILL) in the United States between February 1817 and October 1819; and (2) date and place of birth of their daughter Louisa Henriette VAN TUYLL (VAN SEROOSKREKEN), born most probably in New York or Philadelphia 18 or 19 January 1819.
Catharine WILL, daughter of Henry WILL, married Charles Herman HALSEY, merchant in Baltimore, in the German Reformed Church of New York City 31 October 1798 (The Record 127 [1996]: 159). They had at least the following children: a. Catharina Henriette HALSEY, born in New York, Philadelphia or Baltimore 17 May 1801; b. Anna Maria HALSEY, born in New York, Philadelphia or somewhere in New Jersey 12 November 1805 (baptized Cranbury, New Jersey [First Presbyterian Church] 24 September 1809); and c. Henry Arnold HALSEY, born unknown where 9 March 1809 (baptized Cranbury, New Jersey [First Presbyterian Church] 24 September 1809).
Louisa Henriette VAN TUYLL married William SCHENCK/SCHANCK (1815-1868) in Cranbury, New Jersey (First Presbyterian Church) 5 July 1838. They had several children and further descendants.
Catharina Henriette HALSEY married a Dutchman and lived in the city of Zwolle, Netherlands.
Anna Maria HALSEY, 'of New York', married Joseph WHITE (1791-1867), merchant, 'of Boston', in Batavia, now Jakarta, Java, Indonesia, 20 March 1825. Joseph WHITE later was cashier of the Atlas Bank in Boston.
Charles Herman HALSEY was most probably a son of Decimus HALSEY (1704-1768), merchant in Hamburg, member of the Halsey family of Great Gaddesden, Hertfordshire, England.
It would be of great help if some reader could supply the date asked for. Many thanks in advance.

On the 1905 NY State census, when the new last name first appears, he is living with his mother Teckla Abig and his brother Louis. Title: Adams, Yeomans, Fosgate, Herkimer Families
Description: I would like to correspond with anyone having information on the family history for Nathaniel and Clarissa (Yeomans) Adams, who resided in German Flatts from ~1810 to ~1850. Their marriage announcement in the 1803 Connecticut Centinel suggests Nathaniel was from Colchester and Clarissa from Lebanon, CT. Nathaniel Adams is listed in the 1810 to 1840 Herkimer County census records, but no other family records have been discovered. I understand that fires in Herkimer County vital records offices may have destroyed key family documents including birth records. Family members purchased part or all of the former Burnetsfield Patent lot #5 from the Herkimer family, but I do not have a copy of this grant deed. However family members sold parts and parcels of the former Lot 5 along the Erie Canal as shown in other Herkimer County grant deeds. Names cited in the grant deeds include, John Jost Petrie, Conrad Rickert, Preston Yeomans, Erastus Yeomans, Daniel Yeomans (Rev. War), Abiel and Lucy (Yeomans) Stark, and John and Sophronia (Adams) Fosgate. Nathaniel and Clarissa are buried alongside the Fosgates in Gouverneur, NY. Any insights into the Adams family of German Flatts and their association with the Herkimer family are appreciated.

Title: Thomas / Pearce families
Description: Hello! I have recently found out that my great grandmother Eva Thomas and her sister Eileen Pearce were both living in New York according to the 1930 census. They had both married and were living with their husbands in Brooklyn and the Bronx
Eva Thomas (nee Sugrue) born 1907 Ireland was married to Henry (Harry) Thomas born 1899 Wales. Here is the 1930 census for Eva and Henry:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/1YBX-5HH/p_10339149183
Eileen Pearce (nee Sugrue) born 1903 Ireland was married to Nathaniel Pearce born in Cornwall, England.
Here is the 1930 census for them: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/1YB4-8PL/p_10338263544
I think I have found a social security death index for Nathaniel:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/36QW-JPZ/p_13049071610
and for Henry: http://www.fold3.com/page/5896810_henry_thomas/
And possible naturalization indexes for Eva and Eileen but would really appreciate some help with my search if anyone has a moment as I live in London and have never been to New York so it is all a bit confusing!
http://www.fold3.com/document.php?doc=22357543&xid=215&p=ma
I would love to find if they had children or an obituary for any of them or anything really. Thanks so much, Lucy Greenwood.

Title: Rapalje
Description: To all Rapeljes, Rapaljes, Raplees, etc. and all descendants therefrom (regardless of the spelling of the name): I am creating a multi-media artwork for the Brooklyn Museum of Art, based on my ancestral relation to Joris and Catalyntje's daughter, Sarah and her first husband Hans Hansen Bergen. The exhibition will open in late February. It will be part of a 4-woman show called "Playing House" in which each artist creates a different "intervention" into one or more of the Museum's period rooms. I chose the two Schenck Houses because they are of Long Island Dutch origin, and I am going to insert, among other things, objects and images of my Rapalje ancestry--mine and a million other people! Including yours, I hope.
Please send scanned photographs (tiffs or good jpegs) of your families and ancestors, and information describing your line of descent to my email--marylucier@aol.com. By the way you can check me out at my Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/mary.lucier. I look forward to seeing your responses and your faces.

there are two other Samuel's in the same area at the same time, our Samuel's uncle, and that Samuel's son, Samuel C. Samuel C is said to have never married, and died in 1859. uncle Samuel d. in 1852. maybe the 1840 census is for him.
I am most interested in learning Samuel's (1813-1836) death and burial, and his wife Catherine Sholts' ancestry, but any information beyond what's at my husband's family tree would be most appreciated.

Title: Sulkowski
Description: We are writing from the Museum in Bielsko-Biała (http://www.muzeum.bielsko.pl/www/index.php?jezyk=en). Currently we are preparing a history of the Sułkowski family and we have found information that from 1853 to around 1860 the family lived in New Bremen, Albany, Lewis, Croghan or Harrisville. Thus we are writing to you as we are looking for some documents about the family. We are looking for a married couple the duke Ludwik Sulkowski and his wife Maria Antoinette Sulkowski (her maiden name was Gemperle) who got married on 3rd June 1853 in the church of Holy Cross (Albany, NY). Information about the family living in your are we have found in this publication - F. B. Hough, A History o Lewis County, in the State of New York, from the beginning of its settlement to the present time., Albany 1860, s.101 - as well as in some newspapers from that period.
They probably had five children born in one of those towns:
14.12.1853 SULKOWSKI Thaida
15.11.1854 SULKOWSKI Louis
17.11.1855 SULKOWSKI Alfred Johann
08.12.1856 SULKOWSKI Alexander Eduard
12.02.1858 SULKOWSKI Maria Theresia Antonia
Thus, we are also looking for birth certificates of those children.
Around 1858 the family came back to Europe, and Ludwik and Antoinette Sulkowski died in Bielsko (today it is Bielsko-Biała, Poland). We are looking for any documents and photos of the family and we would like to ask you if you have any in your archives. If you do we would like to ask you for duplicates or at least photocopies of certificates of marriage and births of the persons enumerated above as well as copies of any pictures you will be able to find.
With regards,
Grzegorz Madej
