Title: Isreal C Carpenter 1807-1856 poss born Potsdam, St Lawrence Co
Description: I am looking for my 3ggrandfather, Isreal C Carpenter who was born in NY 1807 (per tombstone) and died 1856 in DeWitt Mi. He apparently came to MI about 1836 and is found in Livingston Co MI in 1840 Census with 3 young sons and no wife. He married Ruhamah (poss Bancroft Fox) about 1840 after the census was taken. She died in 1845 in De Witt Clinton MI. He married again before 1850 Louisa Hoples. Isreal apparently worked land in Olive Clinton Co owned by William Carpenter (1792/4-1876).
William was prob born in Potsdam and served in the War of 1812 and received a pension for his service. He married Mary Taylor, dau of John and Ruth Taylor abt 1817 in Potsdam. Soon after they moved to Porter, Niagra Co. About 1836 he moved the family to Livingston Co MI and then to Oakland Co MI, settling in Lyon, Oakland Co where he died.
I am trying to find the parents of Isreal and establish the relationship between William and Isreal if any. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
