Title: PETERS/COMIJS-COMEYS-COMYS
Description: In 1926 my Dutch father in law’s uncle (Jacobus COMIJS) migrated from The Netherlands & arrived in New York city with an anglicised spelling of his name – John COMEYS. I have found him in the 1930 US census boarding in Manhattan with a family named PETERS (John, Olga and their son also John). In 1934 COMYS/COMEYS married Olga and I can trace passages across the Atlantic & return to New York city. Did John PETERS senior die (in the Bronx in April 1932) or did he & Olga divorce? Was John junior adopted by COMEYS? Also sent were 2 photos of John COMYS/COMEYS snr & Olga with John jnr (PETERS/COMYS) & Cornelia. These are probably dated about 1946 to 1950 with John jnr being about 20 and Cornelia about 10 years old. Despite a lot of Google and Ancestry searching all I can find of them after about 1939 in records is Olga’s 1997 death (& SSN) in Staten Island. So that I can bed down my research and records for Jacobus’ life in USA can someone with familiarity is searching US records contact me and point me in the right direction? I can pad out the vital information aspects for the various people I’ve mentioned above to assist enquiries made by someone over there!
