We are in the process of uploading nearly 550 member biographies to the E-Library in the G&B Members’ Area!
This collection is an extraordinarily valuable addition to historians and to researchers whose family members may have belonged to the Society in the first half of the 20th century.
Requested information on the four page blanks included: Member’s name, birth place and date, education, occupation, organizations belonged to.
- Spouse’s full given name, birth date and place, marriage date.
- Children’s names, birth date and place, children’s marriages.
- Member’s parents’ birth dates and places, marriage date and place, occupations, death dates.
- Additionally many biographies include several extra pages of data including family trees, letters, photographs, death notices, etc.
Several notables, including Sarah Delano Roosevelt, J.P. Morgan, and Louise Carnegie, wife of Andrew, were members of the Society during this era and their worksheets are cheek to jowl with those of less illustrious members.
This is a fascinating collection whether you find a familial connection or not. Additional information is available in The New York Researcher, Vol. 19, # 1, page 6 (Winter 2008). Click here to access this article.
